theheartwoodinside:

Hello! This is a blog for my historical fantasy trilogy work in progress. I post writing excerpts, lore, original art, character sketch info, and reblog aesthetic photography and art, writing memes tagged with character stuff, and archeological, historical, Gaeilge/Irish language and cultural references. Check out the featured tags to find excerpts and stuff organized by character!

The world is first century BCE, Iron Age Ireland. Fey both live together and apart from humans, such as the elusive sidhe (pron. “shee”) of the forests and wild places of Inis Fáil (pron. “inish fall”), or the sii at the helm of sprawling Solarii Empire.

Four souls are on a collision course that will split the foundations of their worlds. The unlikely ties between them bend and break everything they thought they knew. Reviving an ancient resonance with the ancestors from the distant dawn of civilization illuminates a path forward for a new future. A better one, when their worlds need it most.

The story explores our links both tenuous and unbreakable to our past and our land. Curiosity and bravery in the face of fear are powerful, double-edged tools. Authenticity to yourself is radical and powerful, and the characters explore what it means to be themselves with either your whole world supporting you, or your whole world ripping you apart to remold into something not-You. Gender and attraction - the architecture of the heart, and what it wants - don’t always fit the Solarii binary, but has room to be explored in sidhe culture.

Currently +60k into book 1 of 3. All books are outlined and I’m so pumped to keep writing! I won’t be publishing whole chapters of the story online, but I do post excerpts. I’m also open to interested betareaders through BetaBooks.

Message my main blog at @kaiscove or submit asks here! Always ready to infodump on lore and characters so don’t be shy ♡

Heyyyy shameless self-promo here with my new writing sideblog~☆

Follow for updates as I keep writing book 1 of 3 and post lore, art, history, and writing memes ✨

For some reason I have doubts about putting my life in this man’s hands.

We are back in the 50s methodolagy of scientific advancement of “fuck around and find out”

except these people are fucking around when we already found out in about the 70s

okay but imagine how much better the world would be if we sent 1,000 billionaires to Venus.

You, @angstbotfic - keep talking. Tell us more.

That’s supervillain lighting if I ever saw it

I resent the inevitable consequences the second law of thermodynamics has on my tea and the entropy of the universe. It always happens too damn soon.

The hell do you mean “use a tea light” you’re telling me those things can be used to heat tea???

Fam I’ve been lied to and deceived

Wait please what are you being told, this has raised many questions about tea lights for me.

Apparently the way you’re supposed to use tea lights is like this

Which no one ever told me is possible or exists and might now become my villain origin story after suffering years of cold tea

I’m sorry they’re what

They heat tea. They heat tea because they’re tea lights. They’re named that way because they’re literally devices to keep your tea warm and somehow no one has ever told me this and they’re tea lights to heat tea and I might just—[CENSORED]

This probably sounds obvious, but I learned today that prisoners aren’t protected by OSHA regulations, and that this is another reason why employers are so eager to utilize this modern slavery. It’s only a couple cents an hour, less transportation costs than the overseas sweatshops, and if you want people to work with hazardous materials without proper training? That’s fine too! Prison labor is the ultimate free market solution!

If you want to really change the world, prisoner rights and prison reform is the way to go. Removing the ability of the ruling class to effectively punish the population frees everyone to challenge them in meaningful ways. Arbitrary violence and incarceration is how they keep people scared and divided. There is no crime in our society that isn’t generated by our society. Even the worst ones you can think of.

Prisoner rights are human rights. Prison abolition is mass freedom.

Gee, I thought these people were the ones who were like “If you don’t like it, you can just move to a blue state.”

And now they’re mad the guy is doing just that?

You can’t oppress and discriminate against someone then be mad when they take their highly useful skill elsewhere.

His point is basically that he’s going to go where he’s wanted. Guys like Brett realize, as he’s leaving that he’s actually beneficial to the society he’s leaving. If he wasn’t, Bret would be celebrating. This brain drain they’re fretting about is entirely of their own bigoted doing. If they’d thought about retaining great contributors to society instead of culture wars, there’d be no issue.

And the guy still is doing his job, by the way. Saving sick kids.

He just wants to do it in a state that doesn’t hate him and his family.
